Wichita DSA will have meet with nearby state chapters at Eisenhower State Park in May

By SJ Otto

The Wichita Chapter of Democratic Socialist of America discussed their roll in a Camp out May 18-20, at their monthly meeting last Sunday. The campout will be at Eisenhower State Park. There will be chapters invited from Oklahoma, Springfield, Missouri and Nebraska. There will be leaders from the national office and there will be some training as well as time to get to know other DSA members.
In other business DSA will have elections in April for about six positions that will open up.
For this year’s Juneteenth celebration DSA will try to have a booth or information table. Juneteenth is the oldest known celebration commemorating the ending of slavery in the United States. Dating back to 1865, it was on June 19th that the Union soldiers, led by Major General Gordon Granger, landed at Galveston, Texas with news that the war had ended and that the enslaved were now free.
DSA will be organizing an event for May Day.
DSA will take part in a science march April 14.
They will also be taking part in PRIDE Day.
