This morning
I watched Marie Yovanovitch, the former U.S.
ambassador to Ukraine, testify against our President Donald Trump. As she
explained he made virtual threats against her. The one thing that stuck out in
my mind is that, as she spoke, I realized she is a Trumpite, then and now. So
how can a person, who as threatened by the Trumpster, still be a Trumpite?
What I realized from her testimony is that she is 100 percent
in favor of the policies Trump was pursuing. She talked about the need to
protect Ukraine
from the Russians. The Russians are our imperialistic competitors. President Vladimir
Putin and his country are an imperialist power. The US is just his competing power.
Yovanovitch spoke in glowing terms of the US imperialistic role in that region and pretty
much mouthed the US
foreign policy party line that we constantly hear from US politicians in
Congress.
So this proved for me, once and for all, that even those who
hate Trump, even those who are his victims—they hate the man and not the policies.
This makes a lot of difference for me over a lot of anti-Trump persons. Most of
his victims and opponents are against the man, his personality, his individual
actions his personal attacks, but they do not oppose his policies. They do not
oppose his political agenda. They do not oppose his imperialist foreign policy.
I realize, as I watch these hearings that many of us oppose
Trump, but many of us have different reasons why we oppose Trump. We are by no
means united in this effort. Many of us want to bring an end to the Trump
reign of terror, but we have different agendas. We must not lose site of that.
