Koch influence on WSU questioned at Faculty Senate, will be revisited

It is good and important to see that the Wichita State University Student newspaper, The Sunflower is calling the School administration on the influence of the Koch brothers, Charles and David. This makes a good follow-up to an earlier story we did (Koch brothers helped create a “culture of fear” at Wichita State University). – SJ Otto

From the W.S.U. The Sunflower Student Newspaper:

Donations to universities by the Charles Koch Foundation sometimes come with strings attached. But university officials said a proposed Koch-funded “Institute for the Study of Free Enterprise” in the Barton School of Business won’t jeopardize academic freedom at Wichita State.
Talks about the institute leaked last month in The Wichita Eagle and the university had not officially confirmed the report until last week, when Koch influence was the first topic addressed at the Faculty Senate meeting.
According to emails and documents provided to The Sunflower by an anonymous source in July, Anand Desai, dean of the Barton School, had been in contact with Brett Hinkley about creating the institute at WSU.
In a leaked document from 2014, Mother Jones identified Hinkley as a “player” for Freedom Partners — formerly known as the Association for American Innovation — which is a Koch-funded nonprofit organization that has given grants worth $236 million to conservative political organizations.
