I’m a little confused as to all the protesting across the USA over the election of Donald Trump for our president. I agree he is racist, misogynist and fascistic, but just how different is he from someone like Richard Nixon? Using protests to stop the Dakota Access Pipeline makes sense because we can really expect to do that.
I’m not against the protests. I’m just wondering where we can take such actions. I would estimate that most of the protesters will wear down and give up trying to change things by January 20. I really doubt if our government will give in and remove Trump. I’ve seen petitions to get rid of the Electoral College and allow Hillary Clinton to be president based on her winning the popular vote. But petitions take time—a lot of time. I can’t imagine such a petition being acted on in just one month, no matter how many people sign it. It would make sense to get rid of the Electoral College, since it is a relic from the 1700s and has no place in a modern government. And that is beside the point that the Electoral College is just plain stupid and unfair. Go ahead and protest if you like—but I don't see the point in it. On the other hand, this is a good time to start action to demolish the Electoral College.
