Who doesn’t need a private jet to get to work?

Once again Rep. Todd Tiahrt has put his foot in his mouth trying to grandstand on the issues. He was recently defending the use of corporate jets by the overpaid CPOs that came to Washington hoping for a $7 billion handout.

Tiahrt was trying to pander to those who work in the aircraft industry. The reality is that those plains have already been paid for by those CPOs and their use has very minimal affect on the aircraft industry here in Wichita. Tiahrt is simply trying to win brownie points with the voters in his district. This attempt would be laughable if it weren’t painfully obvious to the rest of us that these industrial heads have no idea what it is like to have to live within their means. While the rest of us are struggling to make ends meet in this deep recession, captains of industry and allies such as Tiahrt, who salary alone is $100,000 a year (not counting the perks and donations he keeps), are still living it up. Their companies may be bankrupt, but as individuals they just don’t feel the sting their workers are feeling.

If Tiahrt really cared about his constituents, he would have done something about the outsourcing the aircraft industry has done to cut wages.
