Tiahrt struggles to get glory for jobs he didn’t get

Rep. Todd Tiahrt keeps trying to get a tanker deal, to bring jobs to Wichita. He’s trying to get elected as a senator this time around, so he needs all the credit he can take, even when he doesn’t deserve it. In a recent article in The Wichita Eagle, he spoke at a ribbon cutting ceremony:

“931st Air Refueling wing gets new maintenance complex

A renovated building complex, more people, funding and resources were reason enough to celebrate Sunday at McConnell Air Force Base.

U.S. Representative Todd Tiahrt helped commemorate the new 931st Air Refueling Group's maintenance complex during a ribbon-cutting Sunday afternoon.”

And in this time of economic downturn, when thousands look for work, how many jobs does the Eagle report this will bring:

“The new jobs include 130 full-time and more than 274 part-time positions.”

That’s not a whole lot, But Tiahrt needs to show some success for an office he has held for years, doing nothing for the working people and making a bundle of loot off of businesses he supports.

Moran gives Tiahrt a run for his money

Rep. Jerry Moran’s policies aren’t that different from Rep. Todd Tiahrt’s, but the two men are different. Tiahrt is so corrupt he has made a mockery of the office he holds. He has taken every advantage, every perk, and every chance to make extra money for himself. He sells his votes to the highest bidder. He’s not the only corrupt sleaze-bag in office, but his corruption is just too brazen to be ignored.

Moran seems to be slightly ahead in the polls and he has raised more money according to The Wichita Eagle:

“GOP candidates report campaign finances

BY DION LEFLER

The Wichita Eagle

Thursday was busy for local congressional candidates as Rep. Jerry Moran extended his fundraising lead over Rep. Todd Tiahrt in the race for U.S. Senate and state Sen. Dick Kelsey released a poll showing himself leading the race for Tiahrt's old seat.

Midnight Thursday marked the deadline for candidates to turn in their campaign finance reports. In the 4th Congressional District race, most candidates seemed to be waiting until the deadline, with only two candidates — Kelsey and businessman Wink Hartman — filing in time for federal officials to post the results by the end of the business day.

In the Senate race, fundraising results obtained by the Associated Press showed Moran, R-Hays, holding more than twice as much cash on hand over Tiahrt, R-Goddard.

The AP reported that Moran has amassed $3.4 million in funds; Tiahrt had about $1.4 million on hand…..”

Blatant lies of Tiahrt

Tiahrt attacks another program for the poor

No one can accuse Rep. Todd Tiahrt of being sympathetic to the poor. He has cut funding for and tried to eliminate any one who advocates for the poor. So it is no surprise he has gone after the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN).

From The Wichita Eagle:

Rep. Todd Tiahrt, R-Goddard, wants to revoke ACORN’s tax-exempt status. But in making that case, Tiahrt doesn’t need to follow the example of talk-radio hosts and exaggerate the link between ACORN and President Obama. In a statement Tiahrt read recently on the House floor, he claimed that ACORN was “the political machine of President Obama” and said that Obama paid ACORN more than $800,000 to “help him win the White House.” But as FactCheck.org determined, Obama has had minimal association with ACORN since he helped represent the group and other plaintiffs in a “motor-voter” case in 1995. Obama’s campaign did pay ACORN $800,000 during the Democratic primary as part of a “get out the vote” effort. But that’s 0.1 percent of the more than $700 million Obama spent during the 2008 campaign.
